Former UFC champion Jon Jones addresses domestic violence allegations and details his childhood trauma.

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones has a lot to get off his chest.

Jones, 34, is facing intense scrutiny after being arrested in Las Vegas on Friday, Sept. 24 on charges of misdemeanor battery domestic violence, and tampering with a police vehicle, a felony. On Wednesday, “Bones” revealed skeletons in his closet and refuted the domestic violence allegations.

“I love how people are imagining the worst possible situation in their heads and make it somehow factual. I never hit my fiancee and our daughters were woken up after our confrontation. My daughters didn’t see or hear us arguing,” Jones tweeted on Wednesday. “That’s really the only thing I care to clarify.. outside of that, looking forward to moving forward without alcohol. It’s the first time in my life where I’m actually ready to quit. Glad to have the support of my fiancee, family friends and fans.”

He then retweeted a fan who wrote, “Actions speak louder than words.”

“Yep, I totally understand that,” Jones agreed. “That’s why I’m not going to do some big PR stunt, hire a publicist. I’m not gonna do anything like that. I know it’s real. I know that I’m ready. Time will take care of the rest.”

Jones briefly deviated to his personal trauma.

“My life wasn’t always great man,” he prefaced in a since-deleted tweet. “Being molested as a child, losing a parent and sibling to disease at a young age. It goes on and on man. I got things I need to deal with.”

Jones previously had run-ins with the law: a hit-and-run charge in April 2015, drunk driving charges in May 2012 and March 2020, and a battery charge in July 2019.
