Norma Dumont thought she already proved title shot-worthy, willing to do it again at UFC Fight Night 195

LAS VEGAS – Norma Dumont thought she proved her worth the fighter worthy of challenging Amanda Nunes next, but that manifest untrue when she was offered the UFC Fight Night 195 main event slot.

Originally scheduled to face Holly Holm, Dumont (6-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) now faces Aspen Ladd (9-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC), who has moved up a division on short-notice for the bout.

Dumont, 31, is one of the only fighters on the UFC women’s featherweight roster. She’s 1-1 in the promotion’s division but is coming off a split decision win over former UFC title challenger Felicia Spencer.

“I thought I already accomplished (earning a title shot) in the fight against Felicia but maybe I still have to prove more,” Dumont told MMA Junkie at a pre-fight news conference Wednesday. “I think that I’m better than most of the fighters in the 135 division, too. I’m continuing to evolve. I’ll show the best of me and the rest of me will happen the way it happens.”

UFC Fight Night 195 takes place Saturday at the UFC Apex. The card streams on ESPN+. Check out Dumont’s full UFC Fight Night 195 pre-fight news conference in the video above.
