BKFC announces first 2022 event featuring inaugural welterweight title fight

BKFC has its first event of 2022 booked, as the promotion heads back to one of its most frequented states.

On Jan. 29, “BKFC Fight Night: Jackson” will take place at the Jackson Convention Complex in Jackson, Miss. The card streams on FITE, the promotion recently announced.

In the main event, BKFC mainstays Elvin Brito and Kaleb Harris will rematch in a bout for the promotion’s inaugural welterweight title. No additional bouts have been announced at this time.

Brito and Harris first fought at BKFC 11 in July 2020. At that event, Brito defeated Harris in a close split-decision call. Since then, neither fighter has lost in bare-knuckle fighting. Brito has gone 2-0 with victories over Brad Kelly and Julio Garcia, while Harris has entered a two-fight winning streak with victories over Noah Cutter and Derrick Findley.

The original title fight was expected to be Harris against “The Ultimate Fighter” alumnus Julian Lane. However, as a result of Lane’s outside-of-the-ring scuffle against Mike Perry at “BKFC Fight Night: Tampa” in early December, he will no longer partake in the championship opportunity.
