UFC free fight: Calvin Kattar blasts Shane Burgos with beautiful combination in Round 3

It didn’t take long for Calvin Kattar to make his mark in the UFC’s featherweight division.

In just his second octagon bout, Kattar drew fellow striker Shane Burgos at UFC 220 in his home state of Massachusetts. Kattar found a home for his jab early, and Burgos landed some solid body shots as both men stood and traded in the pocket.

In Round 2, Burgos kept pressure on Kattar, who continued to utilize his jab with full effect. Kattar attempted to mix things up with a takedown, but Burgos defended well against the cage. Burgos’ body work started to pay off as he turned the tide a little in the second frame.

But less than a minute into Round 3, Kattar connected with an overhand right, followed by a beautiful uppercut which wobbled Burgos, flooring him with a blistering right hand to finish the fight. Both men earned a “Fight of the Night” bonus for their entertaining display of boxing.

Kattar (22-5 MMA, 6-3 UFC) returns to action Saturday, when he takes on rising contender Giga Chikadze (14-2 MMA, 7-0 UFC) in the main event of UFC on ESPN 32, which takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Before he faces Chikadze, relive Kattar’s finish of Burgos in the video above.
