Anthony Pettis and Donald Cerrone have shared the cage together twice before as opponents. Now they are sharing it as training partners.

Pettis (24-12), a former UFC and WEC lightweight champion who owns a pair of octagon victories over Cerrone (36-16 MMA, 23-13 UFC), shared footage on Thursday of the pair training together at Syndicate MMA in Las Vegas.

The connection came together ahead of very important bouts for both. Pettis is set to make his 2022 PFL regular season debut against Myles Price on April 20. “Cowboy” will attempt to snap a five-fight winless skid when he takes on Joe Lauzon at UFC 274 on May 7.

The footage posted by Pettis is relatively tame, though he does attempt some of his signature flashy techniques. Check it out below (via Twitter):

Pettis first defeated Cerrone at UFC on FOX 6 in January 2013 courtesy of a nasty body kick in the first round. They had a rematch more than seven years later at UFC 249 in May 2020, when Pettis edged out a razor-thin and somewhat controversial unanimous decision.

Both men were cordial toward one another around both of their fights. That camaraderie has extended, and now they are pushing each other inside the gym.
