Georges St-Pierre to serve as co-host of Jake Paul vs. Anderson Silva pay-per-view

A legendary and familiar face to MMA fans will be part of the Jake Paul vs. Anderson Silva spectacle.

Former UFC two-division Georges St-Pierre has been tabbed to serve as co-host of the Showtime pay-per-view, Most Valuable Promotions announced Tuesday on social media.

In a tweet, Paul followed up the announcement by sharing his appreciation of having St-Pierre as part of the broadcast.

Welcome to the show legend @GeorgesStPierre – appreciate you for co-hosting.

It’s unclear what St-Pierre’s role specifically will entail, but his addition to the broadcast is a shrewd move in trying to entice MMA fans to watch.

St-Pierre and Silva, widely considered two of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time, were linked to a potential superfight at the height of their careers while GSP held the UFC welterweight title and Silva the UFC middleweight title. The matchup, however, never came to fruition, and the two MMA legends have shared a mutual respect over the years.

Paul vs. Silva takes place Saturday at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Ariz. According to Most Valuable Promotions, the event will yield the highest grossing gate for boxing and second-highest gate for combat sports in the arena’s 19-year history behind only UFC 263.

The Paul vs. Silva pay-per-view also features former “Ultimate Fighter” winner and UFC standout Uriah Hall fighting taking on former NFL All-Pro running back Le’Veon Bell in a four-round professional fight.
