LAS VEGAS – Anthony Hernandez wants a ranked opponent after his UFC Fight Night 224 win.
Hernandez (11-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) stopped Edmen Shahbazyan (12-4 MMA, 5-4 UFC) by TKO in Round 3 in Saturday’s middleweight co-main event at the UFC Apex. The main card aired live on ESPN+.
“Fluffy” doesn’t have a name in mind for who he wants next, but that’s because he’s not even following his division or the organization as a whole. All he knows is that he’s ready to take anyone out in his ascent up the ladder.
“I honestly barely follow the UFC,” Hernandez told MMA Junkie and other reporters at the UFC Fight Night 224 post-event news conference. “Whoever the f*ck is in that top 15, I will fight. So, Uncle Dana, whoever you want to see me fight, sign me up and I’ll be there.”
Hernandez says he doesn’t follow the UFC because he’s solely focused on his path to the top. Perhaps an unorthodox method, but one that’s worked for the 29-year-old who has now won four in a row, three by finish.
“I’m not here to be a fanboy, I’m here to be the biggest f*cking thing in the world,” Hernandez said. “So, I believed in myself, and I’m just gonna keep focusing on myself. I don’t care what everyone else is doing. When the time comes, and I have to face them, I will break their soul.”
