Highlights! ‘California Kid’ Strangles 4th degree Black Belt

“The California Kid” has still got it.

UFC Hall of Famer Urijah Faber headlined his promotion, A1 Combat 21, last night (May. 25, 2024) and scored a sick submission win against 4th-degree Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) black belt and ADCC bronze medalist Jeff Glover from inside Visalia Convention Center in Visalia, Calif.

The match between Faber and Glover was a 10-minute submission-only combat jiu-jitsu match. Combat jiu-jitsu is a mixed version of BJJ and MMA, where competitors can use open-hand strikes to slap their opponents, and Faber did just that as he bloodied up Glover’s face.

With less than three minutes left in the match, Faber locked up a half crucifix, trapping Glover’s arm, and then quickly grabbed his neck, strangling him until he tapped.

Check out the finish below:

Faber, 45, has not competed in MMA since suffering a brutal knockout loss against Petr Yan at UFC 245 (watch highlights). “The California Kid” lost two grappling matches prior to A1 Combat 21, so he is back in the winning column.

After his win, Faber teased that he is working with jiu-jitsu mastermind Eddie Bravo to bring more Combat jiu-jitsu to his promotion … which is incredible.
