“Poatan” is THAT guy.

Yesterday (Thurs., June 13, 2024), UFC announced Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler has been canceled and that Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka will be stepping up on two weeks’ notice to headline UFC 303 for the Light Heavyweight championship.

A few hours after the bombshell news, Pereira took to his Instagram to react to the rematch.

“I understand that this fight is very close and there may be difficulties with the lead up time BUT if there is somebody that can make this happen it is me! POATAN!,” Pereira wrote.

“This is why I am one of the biggest names in the UFC, Alex Pereira!!! I take risks that not one other person would be willing to take, but I know I have my ancestors with me. The spirits are with me, and I’m ready for it all.”

What makes the news of Pereira accepting to fight Prochazka even more epic is that he is currently doing seminars in Australia and will fly home immediately to train for Prochazka.

Pereira knocked out Prochazka at UFC 295 last Nov. inside the iconic Madison Square Garden to claim the Light Heavyweight championship (watch highlights).

Since then, Pereira defended his belt against Jamahal Hill at UFC 300, and Prochazka rebounded against Aleksandar Rakic at the same event.
