Silva Vs. Sonnen 3 Highlights, Twitter Reaction
Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen put up a stinker last night (Sat., June 15, 2024) at Spaten Fight Night in Sao Paulo, Brazil. as the former UFC rivals squared off inside the boxing ring for their third and final fight.
This fight was pegged as Silva’s final bout in Brazil. It was privately held and was nearly impossible to find if you were trying to score a stream. With barely any promotion, casual fight fans probably had no idea it was on. In the end, it was better off they didn’t.
Despite this trilogy bout between Silva and Sonnen being an exhibition boxing match, fight fans were hoping to see some good action in the trilogy. After all, Silva and Sonnen forged one of the most iconic rivalries in UFC history on the heels of two unforgettable title fights. Unfortunately, neither fighter really put up the effort on Saturday night and things quickly turned into a sparring match between two washed veterans.
Silva more than likely could have turned it on and found a finish against the flailing Sonnen, but “Spider” never went in for the kill. He was happy to play pattycake and allow Sonnen to clinch for half the time. In the end, Silva did more than enough to claim the win, but the trilogy bout was still ruled a draw.
