In an act of pure heroism, Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s cousin, Abubakar Nurmagomedov, has saved a drowning woman’s life.
Abubakar is a four-fight UFC veteran, with his most recent octagon outing coming just last year. On the back of an impressive run in the WSOF/PFL, the welterweight signed pen to paper with the UFC, where he racked up two wins in his opening four fights with the promotion.
However, Abubakar Nurmagomedov’s absence from the sport hasn’t been uneventful. According to UFC flyweight contender Tagir Ulanbekov, Abubakar managed to save a woman from drowning in the Caspian Sea.
“I would like to dedicate this post to my brother Abubakar Nurmagomedov,” Ulanbekov said on Instagram. “Although, I know he doesn’t like this kind of attention. But, I can’t help but talk about what happened last weekend.”
“Abubakar, while walking along the shore of the Caspian Sea in the evening, noticed a woman in trouble.”
“The water had already flattened her, and it was obvious that she would not get out without extra help. Without hesitation, without thinking of himself, Abubakar jumped into the water and saved [her].”
Tagir Ulanbekov then shed praise on the late Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov for teaching them valuable life lessons.
“This action is a prime example of what our coach taught us: ‘Do not pass by someone else’s distress and lend a helping hand when needed.'”
“Moments like these remind us how important it is to be caring and ready to come to help at any time.”

Unfortunately for Abubakar Nurmagomedov, he was one of many to be released by the UFC earlier this year.
During his time inside the octagon, the 34-year-old scored two unanimous decision victories over Jared Gooden and Gadzhi Omargadzhiev.
His final bout for the company came against the tough Elizeu Zaleski. The pair would battle it out for three rounds before Zaleski was awarded the split decision win on the scorecards.
