Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson trade shots online

The long-lasting feud between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson is not going to die down any time soon.

Khabib and Ferguson are among the very best lightweights to ever compete under the UFC banner. At their heights, the pair were both riding impressive win streaks and an eventual fight between the two looked inevitable — though it never came to fruition, despite several attempts to make it happen.

Over four years after their last scheduled bout fell through, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson are back to trading shots online.

During a recent interview, ‘The Eagle’ insisted that the only chance Ferguson ever had to beating him was a lucky punch. Understandably, ‘El Cucuy’ didn’t take too well to the comment and decided to respond on Instagram.

“‘Lucky punch’,” Ferguson said. “Now, I was going to leave you alone but [you] just couldn’t help it.”

“[You] fat [f***]. What a f***ing pu**y, coward like chicken. Keep hiding, Khabieber. 29-1…”

“Until further notice, let [old] fat head know what time it is crew.”

Astonishingly, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson were booked to fight five times to no avail. The lightweight clash — which would have seen two of the greatest fighters of their generation lock horns — is considered by many to be the biggest ‘what if’ in the sport’s history.

Their feud is still red-hot and it didn’t take long for Khabib to issue a response to Ferguson’s post. Though it could well have been his manager Ali Abdelaziz, whoever was in control of the Russian’s X account hit back at the former UFC interim champion.

“You know what’s interesting,” Khabib responded. “I didn’t say anything about you.”

“People just post whatever they want on the internet and write that it’s Khabib. Enjoy your life and your family, leave this sport for the young fighters.”
