Jon Jones doubles down on disinterest in Tom Aspinall fight

Despite conflicting reports ahead of his UFC return, Jon Jones looks all but set on not fighting interim champion Tom Aspinall.

The feud between the pair has been heating up over the past few months and fans are desperate to see the rivalry settled inside the cage. Though, ‘Bones’ seems happy to leave the conflict with Aspinall in the past after his next — and most likely final — octagon appearance.

In response to a fan who claimed his legacy would be stained without fighting Tom Aspinall, Jon Jones hinted at retirement.

“Maybe I’ll leave you with blue balls,” Jones said to a fan on social media platform X. “But my legacy will be just fine.”

“I’ve done way too much work in this game. There’s people around the world that’s been watching me fight since they can remember.”

“He would have to go on and win like 10 championships at least in order for that to happen.”

“The work I put in, that body of work ain’t getting touched no time soon.”

While Jon Jones is clearly not interested in fighting the seemingly unstoppable Tom Aspinall, that doesn’t mean he isn’t backing himself in the fantasy matchup.

Yet again responding to a fan on social media, Jones insisted that despite having a sizeable weight and age disadvantage, he would still beat Aspinall.

“Bro, [I’d] absolutely [beat Aspinall],” Jones claimed. “I’m getting xlose to being in fight shape and I’m weighing in at 245 now.”

“He probably cuts weight to get down to heavyweight. The night we fought, he would probably weigh a solid 25 pounds more than me.”

“[He’s] seven years younger and I would still whip his a** like I’ve done everyone else.”

“You guys can go ahead and believe the hype. I’ll keep doing what I’ve always done, win.”
