Jon Jones: ‘My legacy will be just fine’ without fighting Tom Aspinall

UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones insists that he doesn’t need to fight Tom Aspinall.

Jones is expected to make his first title defense against Stipe Miocic this November in New York. Jones hasn’t competed since claiming the belt vacated by Francis Ngannou with a quick submission of Ciryl Gane in March 2023, leaving fans frustrated with his inactivity.

However, Jones’ inactivity isn’t by choice. He was scheduled to face Miocic at UFC 295 last November but withdrew due to injury. In the meantime, Aspinall captured the interim title with a first-round knockout of Sergei Pavlovich at UFC 295 and even defended his interim title with another knockout of Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304.

Jones still refuses to commit to fighting Aspinall if he gets passed Miocic. He took some time to answer fan questions on “X” and made it clear just how unnecessary he believes a fight with Aspinall is.
