Shocking Alex Pereira and Dillon Danis sparring footage resurfaces

Despite their weight discrepancy, a video resurfaced of a sparring session between Alex Pereira and Dillon Danis, and it looked much more competitive than many would like to admit.

Danis plays his villain role so well that most fans don’t care whether the prospect returns to the sport. The jiu-jitsu ace has fought in mixed martial arts just twice, winning both of his fights by first round submission under the Bellator banner.

Though he doesn’t have much experience in MMA, Dillon Danis is an incredibly high level in the grappling world. While a full-contact spar could have played out much differently, Danis seemingly dominated UFC champion Alex Pereira on the mats during their session together.

The video shows the BJJ practitioner easily taking Pereira to the ground before landing some strikes and working his way to a better position. ‘Poatan’ did attempt several sweeps of his own, but was unable to find any success.

Danis, while expected to be better in the wrestling exchanges, hasn’t competed in professional grappling since 2017.

Check out the shocking footage below.

Alex Pereira is one of the most feared fighters in the sport today, but is believed to have one glaring weakness in his game.

His sparring session with Dillon Danis only highlights the fact that, despite being a world calibre kickboxer, he is still incredibly inexperienced in the grappling side of combat.

Is Alex Pereira’s title reign in danger?

Surprisingly enough, Alex Pereira is yet to be on the receiving end of a grapple-focused game plan. While most of his last opponents have been unable to implement a wrestling style on him, his worst nightmare could be just around the corner.

It’s unclear what’s next for the champion, but one name that continues to be mentioned is Magomed Ankalaev.

The Russian has been knocking on the door of a title shot for some time. If Ankalaev is able to dominate Aleksander Rakic in his next outing, a shot at UFC gold will be inevitable.

While he’s predominantly a striker, he possesses impressive grappling that could pose a threat to Alex Pereira’s title reign.
