One of the major talking points of UFC 306 at the Las Vegas Sphere was Irene Aldana‘s gut-wrenching cut.
On what is being touted as the most unique night in the history of the sport, September 14 was filled with unforgettable moments from start to finish. Standing atop the list of the most memorable was an injury that was endured during the event’s featured prelim.
Going toe-to-toe in a 15-minute war, Irene Aldana and Norma Dumont were unlucky not to take home fight of the night honors when all was said and done.
But, despite putting on a phenomenal display for the fans, the quality of the fight was overshadowed by what is being considered the worst cut in UFC history.

The cut was caused by an accidental clash of heads. As expected, blood streamed down the 36-year-old’s face and became a real problem for her for the remainder of the fight.
Norma Dumont did well to keep composed and stick to her game plan, which eventually led to her winning every round on each judge’s scorecard.
Though, on a night celebrating Mexican Independence Day, Irene Aldana put on a performance that perfectly embodies the fighting spirit of Mexico.

Now, days after the curtain closed on an impressive UFC 306, new photos have emerged showing a before and after of how bad the cut was.
Below, you will see a fresh-faced Aldana enjoying being in the thick of battle against Dumont.

Then, after clashing heads with her opponent in the second round, one of the worst cuts in UFC history was opened up.
However, this didn’t stop Irene Aldana from pressing forward and constantly pushing the pace for the entire three rounds.
Speaking out for the first time since the fight, Aldana proved that she is a true warrior. She thanked fans for their support and insisted her bizarre cut was ‘just another day at the office’.
