We can call a rose a rose here and say that Japanese mixed martial arts (MMA) in 2024 is certainly not what it once was decades ago during the PRIDE heyday. That said, the former promoter for said organization, Nobuyuki Sakakibara, still does a great job putting together a spectacle every now and then, and this weekend (Sun., July 28, 2024), live from Saitama Super Arena in the outskirts of Tokyo, Japan, we’ve got Super RIZIN 3, and it has boxing legend Manny Pacquiao taking on kickboxing star Rukiya Anpo.

We’ve got former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) title contender, John Dodson, looking to continue his unbeaten streak in bareknuckle boxing, taking on big-punching Takaki Soya. There’s also JMMA and JKICK mainstays like RENA and Hideo Tokoro and YA-MAN and Hiromasa Ougikubo and Mikuru Asakura and, man alive, I’m looking forward to being up before the crack of dawn like I used to back during the days of DREAM (when the author was still relatively young).

Super RIZIN 3 will begin streaming LIVE on RIZIN pay-per-view (PPV) at 12 a.m. ET (5 a.m. UK time) with the ring walks for Pacquiao vs. Anpo scheduled for 5 a.m. ET (10 a.m. UK time). As with all live events, the ring walk times are approximate and subject to change, depending on how the preceding fights play out.
