Valentina Shevchenko hits out at ESPN for ‘unfair’ coverage

UFC 306 at the Las Vegas Sphere was a night to remember for Valentina Shevchenko, but it wasn’t all positive for the new UFC women’s flyweight champion.

‘The Bullet’ showed a new side to her game, adopting a wrestling approach and dominating Alexa Grasso from bell-to-bell. Despite her impressive showing, Shevchenko felt the post-fight press conference was the best time to share her thoughts about other matters.

Reminiscing on her second fight with Grasso last year — in a fight that she believes she won — Valentina Shevchenko fired shots at ESPN for their alleged biased reporting.

“I feel ESPN was showing so much [favoritism toward Alexa Grasso],” Shevchenko said. “Even in the second fight with Alexa.”

“So, every time [they were] showing the moment where she’s winning or she’s doing good combinations. And my combinations, they just ignored.”

“But I won the fight, but they just ignored. All the people had this feeling that she won the fight. And it was a draw.”

“I felt it was unfair a little bit, and now there is no way for them to show these clips. It’s going to do right and show the right clips now.”

Valentina Shevchenko’s flawless display may have just settled the feud between herself and Alexa Grasso for the time being — despite the score being tied at one win apiece and one draw between the two.

The new 125 lbs champion will likely put her title on the line against a fresh face the next time she steps into the octagon.

While the women’s flyweight division is beginning to heat up, it’s Manon Fiorot and her 12-fight unbeaten streak that stands above the rest.

All signs point toward the French-woman being next up for Shevchenko — especially after she weighed in as the backup during UFC 306 fight week.
