James Vick embarrassed to get KO’d by ‘low percentage move,’ provides health update

James Vick has broken his silence following a devastating knockout loss to Niko Price at UFC on ESPN+ 19.

Vick (13-5 MMA, 9-5 UFC) suffered his fourth consecutive loss on Saturday when he became just the second fighter in UFC history to take a knockout stemming from an upkick, which Price (14-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) perfectly executed in the second round of the welterweight bout at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla.

The fight was supposed to represent a fresh start for Vick, who went from surging up the lightweight rankings to being on a skid and changing weight classes. The tough times continued, though, and two days after the loss Vick finally commented on what happened (via would spell the end of his UFC tenure. It remains to be seen whether the promotion will choose to keep him around, but given the details provided in his update as far as his lip and knee injuries, it’s likely his next fight won’t come in the near future, anyway.
