Tanner Boser vs. Daniel Spitz

Round 1 – Boston kicking things off with the big boys. As advertised, these are two large men. A touch of gloves and were off. The two exchange jabs. Boser is the first to connect with a hard shot – and overhand right. A thunderous leg kick follows. It seems like that’s Boser gameplan – target the leg. He goes back to the well again. Spitz lands a leg kick of his own, but Boser returns it. Boser rips a loud body kick that has the crowd oohing and awing. Spitz tries a high kick, but it’s blocked. Both men are consistently landing smaller shots, but the big ones are whiffing often. Boser rips another body kick, but it’s semi-blocked. An overhand left for Boser lands – one of the biggest shots of the night. Spitz wings a wild head kick in the direction of Boser and almost falls over. That’s the conclusion of round 1. 10-9 Boser.

Round 2 – Boser kicks the body and then the leg. Through the first six minutes of the fight, Spitz has been struggling to land anything massive. Boser lands another leg kick. While I don’t know how much they’re hurting Spitz, they’re definitely frustrating him. Boser’s cardio appears to be a bit ahead of Spitz. Boser lands a huge left hand, which Spitz absorbs surprisingly well. Spitz tries a two punch combination, but misses on both. Boser is so consistent with his leg kicks. Spitz is starting to put the pressure on Boser, but he’s chasing more than landing. Spitz connects with one of his biggests punches of the night. Spitz returns with a two-punch combination. The pace and willingness to trade just picked up. – just in time for the end of the round. 20-18 Boser.

Round 3 – Spitz’s leg is torn up. They showed it in between rounds, which got a reaction out of the crowd. Boser lands to the body and then the head after some dancing around to kick off final frame. Both men miss in a sloppy exchange. Spitz lands a left. Boser returns with the same punch. Boser rips the body with a kick to the right side. While Spitz is still pressing, he hasn’t been able to really cut off the cage. Boser is just a tad quick than him. The Canadian is just tearing up Spitz’s kick – he lands the loudest kick of the evening so far. Boser is essentially rotating around the cage as Spitz stalks. The 10-second clacker hits and both med are throwing power shots. Before the final horn sounds, Boser lands one more leg kick for good measure. That’s a wrap. Pretty monotonous one-sided, but not lopsided bout. 30-27 Boser.

Result: Tanner Boser def. Daniel Spitz via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Brendan Allen vs. Kevin Holland

Round 1 – Holland asks Allen if he wants to touch gloves before the fight starts. Allen says no. Allen wrestles Holland to the mat and gets his back with one hook in. Allen was nit able to lock in a dominant position. Holland gets to his feet, but Allen brings him back down. The two go up and back down. Allen now has Holland’s back on the mat and is looking to get a grasp of Holland’s next. Holland slips out and gets to his feet. Allen grabs a hold of Hollands leg and goes for a heel hook. Holland lands a few shots from a partially standing position. Allen still working for the submission. Now, Holland is sitting up on Allen. Oh man, Allen is bleeding bad. That’s nasty. Holland finally unravels the leg and gets on top of Allen. Holland has the back now. Man, Allen is spewing blood. Ewww. Holland has the arm under the chin. This isn’t looking good for Allen. But somehow he gets out. Now he reverses Holland. Now he’s on the back. What swings of momentum. Allen has Holland flattened out. That is a deep choke. Wow. Somehow Holland gets out and now he’s on top. Back and forth and back and forth. Allen goes for an armbar, but no dice. The buzzer sounds. Yeesh. That’s a hard round to score. Holland did more damage, so 10-9 Holland.

Round 2 – Allen comes out firing and lands a combination. Holland thuds a legkick against Allen’s thigh. Holland shoots for a takedown and Allen grabs his neck in a guillotine attempt. The two topple to the mat. Holland pops his head out of the guillotine. Allen shoots up for a triangle. If you likes wild grappling fights, this is for you. We’ve seen rear-naked choke, armbar, heel hook, triangle, guillotine attempts through the first eight minutes. Holland breaks through the triangle, but Allen reverses him and gets into mount. Allen’s got the back again and he’s working for a choke. The two roll over man this looks deep. It’ll take a miracle for Holland to escape. And there’s the tap. What a fun, back-and-forth debut for Brendan Allen.
