Screw You! Weidman Refuses To Retire, Eyes Title Shot

Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports

Credit to former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight champion, Chris Weidman, for believing in himself. But we can’t overlook the fact that he’s lost five of his last six, all by way or knockout or technical knockout.

Hardly leaves him in a position to be talking about title shots.

In addition, Weidman was given an ultimatum by promotion president, Dana White, who wants the “All American” wrestler to move back down to the 185-pound division, or announce his retirement from mixed martial arts (MMA).

“I will tell you that I am definitely not ready to retire,” Weidman wrote on Instagram. “I still love this and am very hungry to get back in there. I believe I have the abilities to still be world champion. I know some of you are shaking your head and laughing at me when I say that, well screw you and thanks for the motivation. I will be back soon and I will look good doing it.”

Weidman, 35, made the jump up to light heavyweight as a remedy for his 185-pound ailments. Unfortunately, nothing changed and the “All American” was planished by Dominick Reyes in the first round of his UFC Boston main event.

See those highlights here.

The loss to “The Devastator” left Weidman (14-5) unranked at light heavyweight and his trip north removed him from the 185-pound rankings, as well (see them here). I guess the good news is, there’s nowhere to go but up.

Or out.
