Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion Conor McGregor, who also held gold at 145 pounds, will be making his return to mixed martial arts (MMA) on Sat., Jan. 18, 2020 inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

That’s according to the “Notorious” power puncher, though we should probably keep in mind this is the same combatant who retires every two weeks on Twitter, claims he trains with pet tigers, and helped create the BMF belt.

I don’t want to suggest a grain of salt but UFC matchmaker, Sean Shelby, is currently walking around “Sin City” with an umbrella and yellow rain coat.

“I would like to announce the return of ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor will take place on January 18th in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada,” McGregor said during his Moscow press conference on Thursday. “So, that is my comeback fight, it’s 12 weeks this Saturday. I’m in prime physical condition, I’ve agreed the date with the company.”

McGregor has not competed since his submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 back in Oct. 2018. Despite his box office muscle, the chances of securing an “Eagle” rematch are remote so long as Tony Ferguson is next in line.

“As far as the opponent, I have the opponent’s name, but for me and the game that I’m in, and from experience, if I was to give you people the name — which I would love to do — I know the UFC would flip it because they are a crafty company,” McGregor continued. “For me, here’s this one, ask the UFC who the opponent is because I do not give a fuck who the opponent is.”

I don’t think anyone else does either and as far as McGregor’s early 2020 comeback, which is likely to happen at 155 pounds, I’m sure I speak for a lot of combat sports fans when I say I’ll believe it when I see it.
