Manny Bermudez announces UFC has released him

Manny Bermudez is no longer part of the UFC roster.

Bermudez (14-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC) took to Instagram to share the news with his followers and tagged numerous organizations, including Bellator and PFL, as he looks for a new home.

So unfortunately the UFC has decided to cut me. Far as Iā€™m concerned this this just an opportunity for growth and improvement. No harsh feelings, no worries, I know what I can bring to the table. Looking forward to new beginnings in the near future. Thankful as always for a great team, great friends, and a great familyāœŠšŸ½ @onechampionship @m1global@pflmma @canalcombate @bellatormma šŸ¤”šŸ§šŸ˜šŸ˜‰šŸ¤‘ (Also whenever I put something like this up everyone thinks Iā€™m depressed or something, Iā€™m good, just keeping you all in the loop šŸ¤“) #ShootersShoot #StillMoney #MoneyBermudez

In his last win over Benito Lopez in February, Bermudez missed weight by 4 pounds. He then faced Casey Kenney in August, suffering his first loss in a fight that he once again missed weight by 4 pounds.

That prompted his move up to featherweight, where he took on the returning Charles Rosa last month in Boston. Despite the move up to 145 pounds, Bermudez missed weight again, this time by three pounds. He suffered a first-round submission loss to Rosa, dropping his second straight fight.

Having missed weight on three straight occasions and losing his last two in a row, Bermudez subsequently was released from the promotion.
