Daniel Cormier seeks guidance from George Foreman ahead of Stipe Miocic trilogy
Daniel Cormier will look to gain inspiration from boxing legend George Foreman in advance of his trilogy fight with Stipe Miocic.
Cormier, who hinted at retirement before, has changed his tune and is determined to regain the UFC heavyweight title from Miocic. Foreman, the former boxing heavyweight champion, will be an addition to Cormier’s training camp.
Cormier (22-2 MMA, 11-2 UFC) and Miocic (19-3 MMA, 13-3 UFC) first met at UFC 226, when then-light heavyweight champ Cormier knocked out Miocic in the first round to capture the title. At the time, Cormier joined an elite few to hold two belts simultaneously.
In the rematch, Miocic (19-3 MMA, 13-3 UFC) was able to regain his title in a comeback win last August at UFC 241, taking Cormier out in the fourth round with an array of brutal body shots that led to knocking out Cormier.
With the score at 1-1, a trilogy bout is imminent and is projected to take place in early 2020. And the 40-year-old Cormier is seeking guidance from former two-time heavyweight boxing champ and Olympic gold medalist Foreman, who, at the age of 45, became the oldest fighter to ever become boxing world champion with an incredible comeback win over Michael Moorer in 1994.
Despite no scheduled date for the trilogy fight yet, Cormier already has started to piece together his training camp, with the addition of Foreman.
