Video: Christian Edwards lands sickening head kick for KO win at Bellator 233

THACKERVILLE, Okla. – If Christian Edwards keeps finishing people like he did Friday, he won’t have to worry about being called a “Jon Jones protege” for long.

Edwards (2-0 MMA, 2-0 BMMA) needed just 16 seconds to put a violent end to Cesar Bennett’s (0-1 MMA, 0-1 BMMA) pro debut on the Bellator 233 preliminary card at WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Okla.

Edwards landed a vicious left kick that smacked off Bennett’s jaw. The light heavyweight immediately fell backward to the canvas and was out before he hit it. Bennett was down for several minutes and was carried out of the cage on a stretcher, but was conscious and sitting up when he was wheeled to the back.

Edwards trains alongside Jones at Jackson Wink MMA in Albuquerque, N.M., and has been compared to a young version of the UFC’s light heavyweight champion. The fight was his second as a pro. Edwards debuted in July in Thackerville and picked up a 54-second TKO.
