Free Fight! Max Smashes Aldo A Second Straight Time

Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

Max Holloway will look to collect his fourth title defense when he puts his Featherweight title on the line against Alexander Volkanovski in the co-main event of UFC 245 on Dec, 14 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Before then, let’s take a trip down memory lane to the night when “Blessed” earned his first successful defense against the longtime former champion, Jose Aldo at UFC 218. Prior to their rematch in December of 2017, Max had already knocked Aldo out five months prior to win the strap (recap here).

And since he was going in with extra confidence after just knocking his foe out months prior, “Blessed” was as loose and smooth as ever with his attack. Though Aldo did have some shining moments in the first two rounds, Max was simply biding his time.

In round three, Holloway picked up the pace, hitting his foe with precise striking to the face and body. After a desperate takedown attempt, Aldo found himself on the bottom of Ma, who then proceeded to deliver the fight-ending ground-and-pound attack.

And just like the first time, “Junior” suffered a third round technical knockout (TKO) defeat to the Hawaiian-born fighter. Now, Max will face a hungry contender on a 17-fight win steak on Volkanovski who — coincidentally enough — also beatdown Aldo in his last outing.
