The idea of Khabib Nurmagomedov being unmotivated is bizarre. If one looks past the little details for a minute, the Dagestani mauler does precisely the same thing to almost all of his elite opponents: dominate them. Yet according to “The Eagle” himself (translated by Twitter account MMARusTwitter, an account which dedicates itself to translating Russian MMA content), he hasn’t felt much spark until this upcoming title defense opposite Tony Ferguson.
Q:”Compared to your last training camps, are you going to approach this fight any differently?”
Khabib:”I will train hard.With every fight,i gain more and more experience. Im getting older,i am 31.I think it’s the peak age of fighters career.

Once again, it’s almost a thought experiment to try to consider Nurmagomedov unmotivated while thinking of his vicious beating of Edson Barboza. On a more personal level, Nurmagomedov seemed plenty motivated to pummel Conor McGregor as he stood over him and showered him with punches and trash talk alike.
Yet, Nurmagomedov says “El Cucuy” is different, and who are we to argue?
