Dana White reveals he’s spoken with Tyson Fury: ‘He really is interested in fighting’

It sounds like Dana White is warming up to the idea of Tyson Fury fighting in the UFC.

In early November, Fury’s name began to enter more MMA-centric discussions after he posted images and videos of him training with former UFC title challenger Darren Till on social media. Around the same time, Fury was called out by both Stipe Miocic and Francis Ngannou – both of whom he verbally obliged.

While Till estimated there is a 70 percent chance his newfound training partner would compete in MMA, UFC president White was doubtful.

But White might not have the same thoughts anymore. In an interview with Washington-based 106.7 FM, White said he recently spoke to Fury about a potential UFC fight.

“It’s interesting,” White said. “He and I talked the other day. We talked. So he really is interested in fighting, so I respect that. We’ll see. We’ll see what happens.”

White indicated before they’re able to do any business, Fury has tall tasks in front of him the world of boxing. Fury is set to take on Deontay Wilder on Feb. 22 in Las Vegas. The fight, a rematch of their controversial split draw in December 2018, is expected to be a big draw.

“Let’s see what happens with his boxing career,” White said. “He’s got this rematch coming up with Wilder, which is obviously huge and a fun fight for the heavyweight division. You’ve got (Andy) Ruiz and (Anthony) Joshua fighting this weekend … So we’ll see how that goes, and we’ll see what happens.”
