Robert Whittaker may not have liked being Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight champion, but he still has the big target on his back that usually comes as a result of being a word title holder.

After getting called out by Darren Till for a showdown in London in March of 2020, Whittaker was most recently attached to a potential showdown against Jared Cannonier for the upcoming UFC 248 fight card, also in March.

Now, “The Reaper” has another man wanting to welcome him back into the Octagon after losing his title to Israel Adesanya at UFC 243; and that’s none other than Kelvin Gastelum. The former Ultimate Fighter (TUF) winner took to social media to make his case for the bout.

“Can an Aussie pick his chin up off the floor and bring it to London,” wrote Kelvin on Twitter.

Gastelum is referring to Whittaker having to withdraw from their scheduled title fight at UFC 234 this past February just a few days from fight night due to a collapsed bowel and hernia. As a result, Gastelum crowned himself the champion, much to the chagrin of Conor McGregor.

Nevertheless, since both men are now coming off losses to Adesanya, it seems now is the time to re-book this matchup. That said a certain “Killa Gorilla” — or a regular “Gorilla” — will likely have a say in the matter.
