Trump Congratulates Ortiz After ‘Huge’ Combate Americas Win

Tito Ortiz wasted little time taking out Alberto El Patron last night (Sat., Dec. 7, 2019) at Combate Americas live on FITE.TV from inside Payne Arena in McAllen, Texas, when the former UFC light heavyweight champion crushed the WWE veteran via first-round submission (rear-naked choke).

While Ortiz was expected to use his legendary ground-and-pound game and unmatched fighting experience to blow past El Patron pretty quickly, “Huntington Beach Bad Boy” still impressed in the way he handled the entire main event fight. After all, Ortiz was making his Combate Americas debut and hadn’t fought since knocking out Chuck Liddell 13 months ago.

Ortiz’s performance not only looked good in the eyes of Combate Americas fans around the world, but it also caught the attention of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, who offered his congratulations to Ortiz after the fight.

“Congratulations to @TitoOrtiz on tonight’s huge WIN, a Great American Patriot,” wrote Trump via Twitter.

It probably helped that Ortiz, a big republican, had Trump’s name and likeness plastered all over his corner, flag, and shorts, but it’s nice to see POTUS pay his respect nonetheless.

Ortiz, 44, looked really good last night, but at the end of the day he fought a former WWE champion with limited MMA experience. So while it was a nice win that caught national attention the former UFC champion still has much to prove as he sinks his teeth into his new promotion.
