Saint Preux Vs. Spann UFC 247 Fight Canceled

We’re not into 2020 yet, and already fights set to go down in the new year are being scrapped.

A Light Heavyweight showdown between former title challenger, Ovince Saint Preux, and Ryan Spann — which was set to go down at UFC 247 on Feb. 8 in Houston, Texas — has been axed from the pay-per-view (PPV) event.

Spann took to Instagram to reveal the unfortunate news, but did not give a reason as to why the fight was canceled.

“No reason was given to me nor is it my business to put out someone else’s business,” said Spann on Twitter.

“That msg was solely for my people in Beaumont/Houston and surrounding areas that was going to put out to get tickets to see me fight live again. Wasn’t done on my side.”

Winner of seven in a row (3-0 UFC), Spann was looking down the barrel of his biggest challenge to date after bursting on the UFC scene with a first round submission win on Dana White’s Contender Series (DWTNCS).

Saint Preux, meanwhile, was looking to score back-to-back wins for the first time since 2017 after a rough stretch that saw him go 2-3 in his last five outings.

UFC 247 will be headlined by a Light Heavyweight title fight that will see division champion, Jon Jones, take on Dominick Reyes, while Valentina Shevchenko defends her women’s Flyweight title against Katlyn Chookagian.
