Benavidez Slams Cejudo Following Aldo Callout

Despite coming up short on the judges’ scorecards against Marlon Moraes at UFC 245 last Saturday (Dec. 14, 2019), Jose Aldo got a bit of a surprise after Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) champ-champ, Henry Cejudo, offered to give him a shot at his Bantamweight title.

To make it even sweeter, company president Dana White was all for the idea.

And while Joseph Benavidez – the current No. 1 Flyweight contender — doesn’t fight at 135 pounds, the callout had him hot and bothered, as it obviously seems “Triple C” has no plans to ever come back down to Flyweight to defend his title.

“It’s obvious you don’t want to fight me and have no interest of going back down to flyweight,” said Benavidez on Twitter. “Just stop stringing shit along with the company and the division. I’m ready to Fight.”

Interestingly enough, Dana has gone on record to say that Henry’s next title defense would be at 125 pounds, a fight that would obviously go to Joseph. If not, then “The Messenger” would be forced to give that title up.

Whether or not the brash head honcho is still sticking to that threat in light of him approving Aldo vs Cejudo at 135 pounds, is another story.

Henry’s last loss was to Benavidez back in 2016, which makes a rematch between the two more appealing.

That said, a timetable for Cejudo’s return is still unclear at the moment, which means both the Flyweight and Bantamweight division have to say busy fighting one another before another title fight presents itself in either weight class.
