Bellator’s multi-fight offer was great for Ty Gwerder – and sooner than expected

HONOLULU – Ty Gwerder had an inkling he was on Bellator’s radar and that he might be getting a phone call. But it came sooner than he thought it would.

Gwerder tore through his first four opponents in quick order, including three first-round knockouts for LFA. When Bellator called to swoop him up, the promotion didn’t just want him for one spot on the prelims with other local fighters. He got a multi-fight deal right out of the gate. And the whole thing happened even sooner than he thought it would.

Friday, Gwerder (4-0 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) makes his promotional debut against Joseph Creer (6-1-1 MMA, 1-1 BMMA) at Bellator 235 (“Bellator and USO Present: Salute the Troops 2019”), which takes place at Neal S. Blaisdell Center in Honolulu. The main card airs on Paramount and streams on DAZN following prelims on MMA Junkie.

To hear from Gwerder about Friday’s fight, check out the full interview above.
