Jones Taunts Reyes: ‘I Prove Guys Like You Aren’t Sh-t’

With less than two months before he defends his title against Dominick Reyes at UFC 247 on Feb. 8 from Houston, Texas, reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is turning up the heat in effort to put fear into “Devastator.”

Jones, who will be looking to defend his title for the third-straight time since winning it back over Alexander Gustafsson in 2018, is arguably the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world today. He doesn’t really need to taunt his opponents verbally to get them worried about a fight. Jones’ track record inside of the Octagon already does that.

Still, the 32-year-old champion has gone out of his way to dish out some verbal warfare and put Reyes on notice. Reyes, who is undefeated in his professional MMA career at 12-0, hasn’t necessarily taken the bait, but he may end of responding to Jones’ most recent tirade.

“Dominic watching your interviews, it’s obvious you think you’re better than me. You never struggled with substance abuse, you have your big degrees, was always team captain at everything. We get it,” Jones wrote in his first of three Twitter posts.

Jones, who has knocked off former middleweight standouts Anthony Smith and Thiago Santos in his last two title defenses, also wants Reyes to know he’s comfortable fighting the “new guy.” Jones has done it so much before that younger, up-and-coming competition like Reyes doesn’t seem to bother him all that much.

“I’ve been looked over and counted out by guys like you for as long as I can remember,” Jones wrote in his second post. “Year after year I prove guys like you aren’t shit. You’re in my world now.”

While Reyes has proven to be an elite athlete capable of taking out some of the more seasoned vets in the sport, he has never faced somebody quite like Jones. The champion has never actually lost inside of the cage and is already warning “Devastator” to train harder than he ever has before in order to be ready to take out the best.

“With that being said I hope you’re training for me harder than you trained for your NFL tryouts,” Jones wrote in his final message to Reyes. “You’re in a whole new league now”

What say you, Maniacs? Is Jones trying to hard or is he doing just enough to ruffle Reyes?

Sound off!
