Raoni Barcelos vs. Said Nurmagomedov

Round 1 – Barcelos sets up in the center, and Nurmagomedov looks to move on the outside. Both men light on their feet and capable of quick attacks. Spinning backfist from Nurmagomedov blocked. He’s short on a spinning kick, too. Barcelos is staying in the pocket, studying a bit right now, but he’s blocking the flashy attacks from his opponent. Nurmagomedov finding a home for the jab. Barcelos kicks to the leg. Now both men chopping at the legs a bit. Nurmagomedov briefly off-balance after catching a body kick but pops quickly back to his feet. Nurmagomedov back to the jab, and it’s effective. Nurmagomedov with another spinning attack, but Barcelos counters with a crisp right. Late in the round, and Barcelos changing levels. He gets deep, but he can’t really control the action on the canvas, and they reset back to the feet. They finish in the clinch. Good round, but MMA Junkie leans Nurmagomedov, 10-9.

Heili Alateng vs. Ryan Benoit

Round 1 – Benoit in the center and looking to work a jab from the southpaw stance. He throws a rear kick to the body and a big left over the top, as well. He’s busy early. Alateng presses to a clinch and looks for a sweep. Benoit briefly off-balance but recovers. They break away and reset. Benoit continues to throw the big left. The rear kick to the liver lands, and Alateng clearly winces. Benoit doesn’t rush, patiently working from the outside. Superman punch lands clean. Benoit high kick blocked. Benoit really setting the tone. Alateng’s body is red, but he’s still in the mix and lands a nice right hand. Benoit pressing forward, but Alateng finds a home for the right again. Another follows for Alateng, and Benoit is briefly stunned. Nice late work from Alateng. Bell sounds, and MMA Junkie gives it to Benoit, 10-9.

Round 2 – Alateng seems a little energized from his work late in the first, and he’s pressing a little bit. Still, Benoit has the big left kick to the body, and he uses it with frequency. One kick seems to glance across the cup, but we stop only briefly. Benoit goes immediately high on the restart and partially lands with the change in levels. Benoit again moving forward. He lands a stiff jab. Low kicks traded. Benoit complains of a low blow, but we carry on. Alateng with a huge right hands that lands clean. Benoit shakes it off. Alateng’s nose bloodied. He’s hurt. That sees to take some energy from him. Alateng keeping the energy high late. The right hand is scoring. Alateng rushes forward and land a nice left. Alateng with a right hand late, and Benoit staggers a bit. Horn sounds. MMA Junkie gives it to Alateng, 10-9.

Round 3 – Scramble for a takedown early, but it’s Alateng who winds up on top after some effort in the switch. Benoit knows he can’t stay here so he starts making moves and is able to get himself outside and back to the feet. Alateng shoots back inside quickly. Benoit forced to defense. He’s doing well to stay upright, but Alateng continues to transition and move and chain attempts, and he does dump the action to the canvas. Benoit quickly back to his feet, and he’s moving forward as they start again, but Alateng again changes levels and works the action to the canvas, setting up in side control. Benoit able to recover to butterfly, and he is able to sweep up to the feet. Scramble with the time winding down. Benoit back to his feet with a little more than a minute. He needs to get something going. He’s pumping out the jab. Alateng changes levels, but Benoit pushes him away. High kick from Benoit blocked. They’re busy at the finish. Benoit lands clean, and Alateng staggers briefly. He ducks for a single leg, and Benoit tees off at the end. Was that enough for the steal. MMA Junkie says no, giving Alateng the round, 10-9, and the fight 29-28. It’s going to be close, though. That was the most significant action of the round.

Result: Heili Alateng def. Ryan Benoit via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28)

Miranda Granger vs. Amanda Lemos

Round 1 – Granger upright on the outside to start. Lemos flashes out a high kick, leaning back a little in her stance to start. Lemos tags the lead leg a bit, and Granger pushes forward. Lemos happily takes the bodylock and then scores a trip to the floor. Half-guard for Granger. She gets the right leg high on the back into rubber guard, but her head is against the fence, not giving her a lot of options. Granger keeps turning underneath and gets to a better spot, but Lemos punches from the top a bit against an inverted opponent, so Granger has to keep spinning. She tries to take the leg, but it’s not there. Lemos dives back down, taking the back, albeit from off to the side a little bit. It’s not a great position, but Lemos decides to squeeze anyway. It’s on the chin, it seems, but there’s clear tension. Lemos keeps the squeeze, and Granger goes to sleep. Wow. Unexpected angle from which to get the finish, but Lemos gets it done.

Result: Amanda Lemos def. Miranda Granger via technical submission (rear-naked choke) – Round 1, 3:43
