Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) staged its last event of 2019 last night (Sat., Dec. 21, 2019) from inside Sajik Arena in Busan, South Korea which saw Chan Sung Jung knockout Frankie Edgar in the very first round (highlights). In UFC Fight Night 165’s co-main event, Volkan Oezdemir defeated Aleksander Rakic (recap).

Now it’s time to see who went home with the biggest slice of the sponsorship pie.

Leading the way was Frankie Edgar, whose longtime presence in UFC allowed him to score a $20,000 check from Reebok. As for “The Korean Zombie,” he only managed to score a $5,000 payout. The rest of the sponsorship checks didn’t go over $5,000, leading to one of the lowest combined payouts for an event this year.

Take a look at the complete payouts courtesy of MMA Junkie.

Chan Sung Jung: $5,000 def. Frankie Edgar: $20,000

Volkan Oezdemir: $5,000 def. Aleksandar Rakic: $4,000

Charles Jourdain: $3,500 def. Dooho Choi: $5,000

Da Un Jung: $3,500 def. Mike Rodriguez: $4,000

Jun Yong Park: $3,500 def. Marc-Andre Barriault: $3,500

Kyung Ho Kang: $5,000 def. Liu Pingyuan: $3,500

Ciryl Gane: $3,500 def. Tanner Boser: $3,500

Seungwoo Choi: $3,500 def. Suman Mokhtarian: $3,500

Omar Morales: $3,500 def. Dong Hyun Ma: $5,000

Alexandre Pantoja: $5,000 def. Matt Schnell: $5,000

Raoni Barcelos: $4,000 def. Said Nurmagomedov: $3,500

Amanda Lemos: $3,500 def. Miranda Granger: $3,500

Heili Alateng: $3,500 def. Ryan Benoit: $5,000

The total disclosed payroll was $121,000

According to the payout structure (see it), the more fights a fighter has accumulated — combined with UFC and the now-defunct World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) and Strikeforce promotions — the more coin he or she gets to fill his or her combat sports piggy bank. And the less fights a fighter has under the Endeavor umbrella … well, the less he or she gets.

If you have a problem with the structure, take it up with UFC … not Reebok.

According to the report, fighters will also receive royalty and payments up to 20 to 30 percent of any UFC-related merchandise sold that bears his or her likeness. That’s a great way for the Internet “morons” to help the cause.
