Ronaldo Souza’s experiment at Light Heavyweight is officially over. ESPN is reporting that “Jacare” will drop back down to the Middleweight division to face Uriah Hall at the upcoming UFC 249 pay-per-view (PPV) event on April 18, 2020 in Brooklyn, New York.

Souza recently decided to move up to the 205-pound division for the first time in his career, stepping up to face Jan Blachowicz at UFC Fight Night 164 last month. After five rounds of underwhelming action, Jan eventually went on to score a unanimous decision win.

That was enough to send “Jacare” back down to 185 pounds, where he is an even 4-4 over his last eight outings.

Hall, meanwhile, is looking for a big win over the former Strikeforce Middleweight champion as he is currently riding a two fight win streak at 185 pounds, taking out Bevon Lewis via knockout, and Antonio Carlos Junior via split decision.

“Prime Time” is looking to capitalize on his latest big opportunity in order to gain some much-needed momentum in his attempt to live up to the hype he had coming out of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) once and for all. Souza, meanwhile, is simply looking to get back to his winning ways in his old weight class.

UFC 249 is set to feature a Lightweight title fight as division champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov, will face Tony Ferguson in a long-awaited title fight.
