Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Love him or hate him, Michel Pereira has quickly made a name for himself in the UFC Welterweight division. The high-flying Brazilian has no fear inside the Octagon, as he puts himself at risk with random bursts of acrobatics: flips, cage runs, front rolls, and the occasional flying knee!

While the latter proved fruitful in his spectacular debut knockout victory opposite Danny Roberts, the unnecessary jumping that had nothing to do with landing strikes seemed to empty his gas tank quickly in his second bout. Roberts faced a lot of criticism following that performance, but the Brazilian has nevertheless doubled down on his usual fighting style.

In an interview with MMAFighting, Roberts confirmed he would continue his crazy flips opposite Diego Sanchez in his next fight, “I’ll do it. I’ve been criticized ever since I got in the UFC. It’s not something normal to see, not everyone does that, but this is my style. To me, it’s like throwing a jab. I’ll do it. Get ready for a show.”

When asked about his opponent, Pereira doubted that any training partner could replicate the “Demolidor” experience, “I dare them to try it. You can’t train for the things I do. The only thing I could possibly fear is getting taken down, but I have good wrestling and good jiu-jitsu. I’m a complete fighter, so I’ll be comfortable wherever we go.”

Sanchez, however, still has something left in the tank. The longtime veteran has actually won two of his last three, and there is a real chance he scores another grinding victory of Pereira jokes around too much.

Either way, it’s likely to be fun!
