[Official] New event, Regional Rundown, suggestion/introduction thread.

Hey all, mods here! ^{LurksOften specifically, the one everyone forgets.}

Hope your holiday went well!

Recently, we came across a post in new found here asking for a pinned monthly post for rising stars. After some conversation and debate, we as a team have come up with a rough draft that we felt we could share. This draft is just that: a draft. We want critical input from the rest of the community (read: you guys) on what you would enjoy, like, dislike, or change.

Format:

Title: Regional Rundown Thread – (Insert Month and Year) Edition.

Body: And the spotlight goes to (insert fighter and user who submitted them). This would be a user submitted write-up that would be selected from the previous thread. On top of this one being completely done by the user themselves, they must meet select criteria including but not limited to a brief history, record, notable accomplishments, organization, links, and general fighter info. The selected user will also receive a unique flair and post award from the modteam for their contribution.

Pretty straight forward, right? As long as members participate, this should be a relatively simple and fun addition to our month line-ups. As it stands, it’s looking to take place on the first Wednesday of the month.

My hopes were to have something solidified for the January edition, which will be posted on January 1st, however, I understand it’s a holiday and folks are busy. I’d rather this turn out well rather than rushed. If there is a wealth of suggestions and changes, we will shoot for February edition, which lands on February 5th.

How you select the chosen fighter is simple: Beneath the mod stickied comment, simply suggest which fighter you’d like to see with any supporting reason as to why. You can volunteer to do the write-up yourself or ask that someone else take over. Anyone who’d like to take over, reply to the comment with a sample write-up of said fighter. We’d like to stress that you don’t have to be familiar with the fighter, but having decent writing and research skills can take you far. The top voted fighter with the top-voted sample will be chosen a week BEFORE the next month’s edition. This will give folks several weeks to read the thread, select a fighter, and work on a draft or write-up. This will also allow other users time to vote as well.

The rest of the comment thread will be reserved for discussion of the spotlighted fighter, asking OP questions, etc.

FIGHTERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO SUBMIT THEMSELVES AND if they wish PROVIDE THEIR OWN WRITE-UP!

As moderators of this sub, we reserve the right to override any decisions to prevent clear vote manipulation, lack of quality, or the lack of submissions there of, in which case a fellow moderator will provide the write-up.
