Revenge is a dish best served cold in Professional Fighters League (PFL).

Newly-crowned welterweight champion Ray Cooper III, who capped off his tournament run with a second-round finish over David Michaud last night in New York, is ready to welcome Rory MacDonald to the promotion at some point in 2020.

Then punish him for past transgressions.

“He’s a veteran in the sport. He’s got a win over B.J. Penn, one of my boys, and I’d like to get him back on that,” Cooper told MMA Junkie. “If I fight him first, I’ll fight him first. I’ll fight him whenever. I’m ready for him.”

MacDonald topped Penn at UFC on FOX 5 way back in late 2012.

“Red King” has since departed UFC and following a layover in Bellator MMA, will try his luck in the PFL welterweight tournament at some point later this year. Whether or not he’ll draw Cooper early in the bracket remains to be seen, but I would imagine these two are going to cross paths sooner, rather than later.
