New year, same injury problems in mixed martial arts (MMA).

Josh Emmett has been forced out of his scheduled fight against Arnold Allen at UFC Fight Night 166 on Jan. 25 in Raleigh, North Carolina with an injury. According to MMA Fighting, Emmett suffered the unfortunate setback in training.

Winner of two straight, Emmett was last seen knocking out Mirsad Bektic in July of 2019 (see it). Prior to that, Josh was coming off another knockout performance over Michael Johnson. With a 6-2 record so far inside the Octagon, 15-2- overall, Emmett has risen the ranks to become one of the top Featherweights in all of mixed martial arts (MMA).

Allen, meanwhile, is on an eight-fight win streak which includes winning his first six fights inside the Octagon. More recently, Arnold defeated former Strikeforce Lightweight champion, Gilbert Melendez, at UFC 239. It remains to bee seen if the promotion can find a suitable replacement on just three weeks notice.
