Former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor returned to Octagon glory last night (Sat., Jan. 18, 2020) at UFC 246 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, when “Notorious” captured his first win since 2016 with a 40-second TKO finish over welterweight counterpart Donald Cerrone.

Having not fought in over 15 months since getting submitted by Khabib Nurmagomedov back at UFC 229, McGregor’s return raised many questions about whether or not the Irishman can regain his once dominant form. It took McGregor just 40 seconds to steal the show and prove that he’s still one of the best fighters in the world.

Although McGregor’s performance was considerably impressive to most, one fighter who was not pleased was none other than Nate Diaz. In case you’ve been gone for a while, McGregor and Diaz fought twice in 2016 and formed one of the biggest rivalries the sport has even seen.

Here is what Diaz had to say after the fight.

“Weak as f—k,” he said via Twitter.

Diaz then turned his attention to former opponent and current “Baddest Motherf—ker” belt holder Jorge Masvidal, who was sitting cageside at UFC 246. Diaz took a jab at “Gamebred’s” Versace robe before throwing shade at the event as a whole.

“And why the f—k u in a robe,” wrote Diaz.

“This shits all fake,” he continued.

“This gonna be easy,” concluded Diaz.

Not everyone was going to be pleased with a 40-second knockout finish by McGregor, but “Notorious” has to be happy with his performance considering the long layoff and welterweight return. This win will take McGregor into a potentially jam-packed 2020 comeback campaign, which may or may not include a trilogy fight with Diaz.
