UFC 246 play-by-play and live results

LAS VEGAS – MMA Junkie is on scene and reporting live from Saturday’s UFC 246 event, and you can join us for live play-by-play and official results beginning at 7 p.m. ET (4 p.m. PT).

UFC 246 takes place Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and early prelims on UFC Fight Pass/ESPN+.

In the main event, former lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor (21-4 MMA, 9-2 UFC) returns after 15 months away to take on Donald Cerrone (36-13 MMA, 23-10 UFC) in a welterweight bout. In the co-feature, former women’s bantamweight champ Holly Holm (12-5 MMA, 5-5 UFC) meets Raquel Pennington (10-7 MMA, 7-4 UFC).

J.J. Aldrich vs. Sabina Mazo

Round 1 – Aldrich circling left on the outside, and Mazo misses an early low kick. Aldrich continues circling and reaches out with two punches that land up top. Aldrich with non-stop movement to the side, then she jumps in and out of range when she’s ready. Mazo looking to counter, but Aldrich moving well. Mazo trying to load up on her famed kicks, but Aldrich is immediately punching over the top anytime she sees it building. Mazo kicks to the body, but Aldrich answers with three punches up top. Her corner yells out their approval. Mazo turns to her hands and lands a few quick punches up top. Less than two minutes. Anytime Mazo even teases a kick, Aldrich unleashes punches. The straight left hand lands clean. Mazo having success with her hands when she sticks to boxing. Aldrich clearly focused on taking advantage of her opponent’s kicking tendencies. They strike until the end, and MMA Junkie gives the first to Aldrich, 10-9.

Round 2 – Both women start quickly. Mazo again holding the center, but this time she’s pressing with her punches. Aldrich answering, so they’re trading in close quarters to open. Aldrich having more success when she creates space, then dives into range. Mazo impressing when she keeps the pressure high. Mazo kicking the legs a bit at the end of combinations, preventing the easy counters we saw to start. Mazo with a sneaky knee as Aldrich steps inside. Mazo with the volume now, and she continues to keep her kicks at the end of punches. Aldrich is having some success with her powerful strikes, and Mazo’s nose is bleeding late in the frame. Mazo grabs a Thai clinch. Aldrich trying to punch her way out of it, but Mazo lands a few knees inside. Late high kick scores for Mazo. Another good round. MMA Junkie leans toward Mazo, 10-9.

Round 3 – The action again starts quickly. Mazo goes back to the clinch. This time she drives the action to the fence and wraps the body. Aldrich able to spin to the outside, but Mazo reverses again and breaks free. Mazo holding the center and looking to pressure. Blood still streaming from her nose, but Aldrich’s is busted up now, as well. Both women are having moments of success, but Mazo seems to have the volume. She presses forward and back into another Thai clinch. Knees land clean. inside. She’s driving to the body and sneaking them up high, as well. Aldrich looks tired halfway through the round. Mazo maintaining the position, and she is clearly in control right now. The knees aren’t devastating, but she’s scoring points. With 80 seconds left, referee Chris Tognoni calls for a restart. Aldrich needs to capitalize, and she comes out swinging. Her white shirt is covered in blood. She lands a few big punches, but Mazo counters. Knee from Mazo forces Aldrich to back away and reset. Mazo lays out a few kicks to close. MMA Junkie gives the final round to Mazo, 10-9, and awards her the fight 29-28.

Aleksa Camur vs. Justin Ledet

Round 1 – Camur takes the center and misses on an early low kick. Ledet with his hands high on the outside. Camur looks ready to press early and misses a big right hand over the top. A high kick whiffs, as well. Ledet patient to start. He settles and throws out a double jab. Another jab scores, and a big right just misses. Camur trying to swing back with heavy leather, but he eats a counter. Ledet smiling a bit as they exchange punches. Ledet’s straight punches are quicker to the mark, but Camur’s power is unquestionable. Camur with a big right to the body. He misses on an uppercut and moves to the clinch. Nothing there, so he backs away. Less than two minutes. Ledet goes back to the jab. Camur seems to be settling down a bit. He misses on a big spinning kick high. Ledet showing solid movement and that stiff jab. Camur scores with a jab. Ledet trying to add the power shot behind it. Round ends on the feet, and MMA Junkie leans toward Ledet, 10-9.

Round 2 – Camur high kick blocked. Ledet continues to lead with the jab. He moves inside briefly and wants to think takedown, but it’s not there. Ledet scores with a right hand. Camur turns to the legs and scores a few low kicks. Camur pushes back inside and lands a few shots from the clinch before backing away. Camur throws everything with power, though he does take a deep breath a few minutes into the round. Camur lands a few. big punches up top, but Ledet answers. They’re both talking and smiling a bit. Ledet jabs but gets caught by a low kick in return. Camur with another right to the body. Camur with a jab, but Ledet answers with a nice left hand that seems to briefly stun his opponent. Camur resets and recovers. He punches his way into a clinch. Couple of short strikes land clean for Camur. He backs away briefly and rifles off punches before moving into the clinch again. They finish there, and MMA Junkie gives it to Camur, 10-9.

Round 3 – Ledet sticking to the jab. Camur moving well to start the third. He still is throwing everything with power. Ledet misses on a bog left hand. He’s pressing now, but Camur is showing since movement to evade the big strikes. Big left hand for Camur. He moves back to the clinch again. Again he controls from here with relative ease, scoring with a few shots to the body. Ledet eventually presses off the fence, and we reset in the middle. Halfway through. Left hand lands for Ledet. Camur kicks to the body. He continues to chop at the legs, as well. Ledet holding the center. He scores with the jab. Camur with a left hand over the top. Final minute, and Camur trying to load up. Ledet with the jab, then the two-punch combination. Camur with a takedown to close, but it’s in the very final seconds. He finishes on top. Close round. MMA Junkie leans toward Camur, 10-9, awarding him the fight 29-28.
