Herbert Burns earns bonus for his vicious knockout at UFC on ESPN+ 24

Following Saturday’s UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs. dos Santos event in Raleigh, North Carolina, the fight promotion announced the recipients of the performance-based fighter bonuses. Alex Perez, Herbert Burns, Brett Johns, and Tony Gravely took home the $50,000 incentives.

Johns and Gravely earned Fight of the Night honors for their bantamweight contest on the preliminary fight card. The two engaged in a back-and-forth grappling match with Johns winning the first frame and Gravely winning the second. In the third round, Johns was able to takes Gravely’s back after being taken down. After softening up Gravely with strikes, Johns sunk in a rear-naked choke and forced Gravely to tap out.

Burns was awarded a Performance of the Night bonus for his devastating knockout win over Nate Landwehr to kick off the night of fights. Landwehr was pressuring Burns when Burns fired a knee up the middle that connected and instantly ended the bout.  It was Burns’ octagon debut.

Perez earned a Performance of the Night bonus for his first-round submission win over Jordan Espinosa in their main card flyweight match. After securing a takedown, Perez latched on an arm-triangle choke. He squeezed and tightened it until Espinosa lost consciousness.

The event took place at PNC Arena in front of 14,533 spectators in attendance. The gate receipts for the event totaled $1,303,320.00. The fight card featured 12 bouts. Seven fights went the distance; two ended in submissions, and three resulted in knockout finishes.
