Maycee Barber injured her knee at UFC 246 before she lost to Roxanne Modafferi.

And if you’re thinking “No shit, Sherlock” then I would ask you, please don’t shoot the messenger. Barber recently released yet another post-fight statement to remind us that she probably would have won — as the bookies suggested — prior to getting hurt.

”Roxanne is a phenomenal competitor, so I don’t doubt she will still be taking care of her business,” Barber wrote to MMA Fighting. “She and I will cross again, and I’ll have the opportunity to prove to everyone what my team and myself already know.”

Sounds like Barber wants to prove that her loss was a fluke and that she would easily win a flyweight rematch, which is not unlike what Tom Brady and the New England Patriots thought before rematching the New York Giants in 2012.

It should also be noted that her most recent comments were released in a prepared statement that came from her father and head coach, Bucky Barber, who spent the last few days on Twitter mired in a hilarious case of mistaken identity.

”I was doing everything I could to disguise the fact that I had been compromised,” Barber said. “I feel like the fact that the doctor completely gave away that I was dealing with something. It also made the injury more prominent to me when I was trying to push it out of my head for the fight. Had it been me fighting, if I would have seen the doctor stepping in and checking someone’s knee, that would instantly be the thing that I target.”

Modafferi later admitted to purposely avoiding the damaged knee, but Barber suggests the doctor’s meddling clouded her focus for the remainder of the fight, which ended by way of unanimous decision in favor of the “Happy Warrior.”

Barber is expected to go under the knife within the next two weeks and following a lengthy rehab, will shoot for an Octagon return by the end of the year. Modafferi, meanwhile, moved into the Top 5 during last week’s official rankings update.
