Jon Jones will look to add yet another title defense to his resume when he faces Dominick Reyes in the main event of the upcoming UFC 247 pay-per-view (PPV) event on Feb. 8, 2020 inside Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

Before then, let’s take a trip down memory lane to the night Jon became champion once again by winning the Light Heavyweight title left behind by former UFC “champ-champ,” Daniel Cormier.

In late 2018, Jon found himself once again staring down Alexander Gustafsson in the main event of UFC 232. While the event was set to go down in Las Vegas, Nevada, it was ultimately moved to The Forum in Inglewood, Calif., after Jon ran into some United States Anti Doping Agency (USADA) issues.

The two men initially squared off way back at UFC 165 in 2013, providing fight fans with one of the most exciting championship bouts in the history of the sport. After five hard-fought rounds, Jones held on to his 205-pound strap. Five years later, the much-anticipated rematch was finally booked.

After a fairly tepid first couple of rounds which saw both men deliver some illegal shots, business picked up in the third frame. After scoring an early takedown, “Bones” found himself in great position, getting in Gustafsson’s half guard, which allowed him to connect with some elbows.

After a battle for position, Jon wound up taking Alex’s back, and it didn’t take long for the champ to start raining down the punishment soon thereafter, pounding “The Mauler” until referee Mike Beltran was left with no other choice but to put an end to the bout. Now, Jon will look to end the undefeated (12-0, 6-0 UFC) record of Reyes, who looks to become the first man to hand “Bones” his first true loss inside the Octagon.
