Jared Revel looking to ‘put it all together’ in BFL 65 main event
While 2019 wasn’t the most active year in middleweight Jared Revel’s career, it was nonetheless a successful year.
Coming off of two straight wins in 2018, Revel was able to repeat that success in 2019, picking up back-to-back victories, running his winning streak to four straight victories in the process.
“2019 I wasn’t as active as I would have liked to have been,” Revel told MMAWeekly.com. “I only had two fights; one in January and one in June. I would like to be a little more active.
“I do like to fight as much as possible, especially if I’m not injured. It wasn’t the best of things (to only fight twice in 2019), but the two fights were positive for me.”
Having previously finished all his previous eight victories in the first round, Revel experienced his first decision win in his most recent fight versus Collin Hart at BFL 61 last June. For Revel, getting the chance to go a full five rounds is something he can build off of.
“It was one of my more durable fights where I was able to go the distance of five rounds, so it was definitely good to see that I could hack that,” said Revel. “A lot of my fights I like to go out there and finish it quick, so it was good to know I could go through those mental hurdles and going into those deep rounds.
“The whole fight was pretty well stand-up, so it helped me get more confident in my stand-up game. It was also good for my cardio. So it was definitely a huge thing for me.”

This Friday in Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada, Revel (9-2) will look to defend his title for the second time when he faces Drayton Angus (7-9) in the a 185-pound championship main card bout at BFL 65.
“For me if I play my game and put it all together I’m a tough fight for anybody,” Revel said. “I’ve just got to go out there and execute my will. I feel I’m a well-rounded fighter with a high level ground game, so that’s probably the best way to execute for me.”
For Revel, the biggest thing in 2020 is to stay active and continue to build off the momentum he’s managed to create the past two years.
“I’m probably going to go fight by fight,” said Revel. “My goal is to get as many fights as I can in this year. I’m not getting any younger, so I want to see what I can do with this.
“I would love to fight on a bigger stage, but I think if I keep knocking out wins and getting finishes like I have been doing it will happen.”
