PIc! Jones Vs. Reyes Official UFC 247 Scorecard

Reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones scored his 14th-straight title win last night (Sat., Feb. 8, 2020) at UFC 247 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, when he defeated Dominick Reyes via unanimous decision, but many eyebrows were raised when the final scores were tallied.

Jones, who was coming off a split-decision win over Thiago Santos this past July, handily won the final two rounds of the fight. But considering majority of fight fans had Reyes winning at least two out of the first three rounds it was pretty surprising to see one judge, Joe Soliz, award “Bones” a score of 49-46. After all, “Devastator” had done enough damage to Jones over the first 15 minutes to grab a significant lead entering the championship rounds.

I guess we shouldn’t be too shocked by this considering Soliz screwed up scoring for Andre Ewell vs. Jonathan Martinez and Trevin Giles vs. James Krause earlier on the UFC 247 card. We all know that judging isn’t the most perfect system in MMA today, but at least we got 25 good minutes from Jones and Reyes.
