Ex-UFC middleweight champ Chris Weidman moving back to 185 pounds

Chris Weidman’s stint at light heavyweight didn’t last long.

Former UFC middleweight champion Weidman (14-5 MMA, 10-5 UFC), announced on lost to champ Jon Jones this past Saturday in the UFC 247 main event – though there was plenty of controversy about the scoring.

And it appears Weidman will be returning back to the weight class he once ruled.

“I’ve been through the highest of highs and the lowest of lows in my fight career. I really love what I do, and I believe I still have some great moments ahead of me! Can’t wait to shut up all the haters! To all the people that have supported me through the ups and the downs, I appreciate it more than you know. I am more motivated than ever and I know the future is bright. Hopefully getting a fight booked around April back in the MW division! #Blessed”

The road has been rough for the former 185-pound champ. Since he lost his title to Luke Rockhold in 2015, Weidman has only won once – a submission  victory over Kelvin Gastelum in 2017.

But Weidman, who’s been taking on a murderers’ row at middleweight, still thinks he’s got a lot left in the tank, despite losing five of his past six, all by stoppage.

He is targeting a return in April.
