UFC 247 ‘Fight Motion’: Jon Jones and Dominick Reyes engage in back-and-forth battle

At UFC 247, Jon Jones was arguably pushed more than ever before in his MMA career.

Jones found himself potentially down 30-27 heading into the championship rounds with Dominick Reyes but rallied late to narrowly edge Reyes in the headliner from Houston’s Toyota Center.

The judges’ scorecards didn’t necessarily reflect the struggle, with two judges having it 3-2, and one judge scoring it 4-1, all in favor of Jones.

Reyes came out aggressive early in the fight, dropping Jones with a shot to the body. He outlanded Jones in the first three rounds, mixing it up with leg kicks, body kicks and shots to the head. He would punish Jones every time he backpedaled and circled away, throwing numerous combinations.

Jones was advancing throughout the fight, though, eventually pouring it on in the later rounds. Reyes was visibly tired in the final frames, where Jones was able to capitalize and briefly take him down a couple of times.

It was enough to award Jones the win, where he became the UFC record holder for most title wins at 14.
